In the publisher's original cloth binding with gilt detail. With a frontispiece and twenty four engraved plates. Collated complete. A collection of comic poems by Thomas Hood. Including popular works such as 'A Tale of a Trumpet' and 'A Lay of Real Life'. Thomas Hood is best known for his poems, 'The Bridge of Sighs' and 'The Song of the Shirt'. With a preface by Thomas Hood the Younger. Previous owner's contemporary ink inscription to the front free endpaper, dated 1893. In the publisher's full cloth binding with gilt detail. Externally, smart with some shelf wear to the edges and fading to the spine. Bumping and fraying to the spine and a few small marks to the rear board. Hinges are strained but firm. Contemporary ink inscription to the front free endpaper. Pages generally bright and and clean with the odd handling mark and some spotting towards the front of the book. Age-toning to the edges. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
