About This Item
New York: McGraw-Hill. Very Good in Very Good dust jacket. 1972. First Edition. Hardcover. xxi, (1), 550 pages; Secure in original binding in dustjacket with some edgewear; a few page numbers noted on final blank. This book assesses some of the most critical of our [then] forty-six elections, when external or internal pressures often caused the system of shifting power from one man or one party to another to creak, groan and threaten to give way entirely. The electoral system is far from flawless, as many of the elections described here testify. ... Our method for passing the torch has, however, survived stresses and strains of every kind. A very interesting look at historic events surrounding the transition achieved during presidential elections and a cautionary tale for our current and developing dilemmas. .
