About This Item

Harmondsworth, England: Pelican/Penguin, 1948. Paperback. Common Wild Flowers. Slight foxing to end inside covers. Slight wear to spine. Small crease to corner cover. Slight foxing to back cover. In this book, now in its third printing, Dr. Hutchinson describes over 200 of our common wild flowers, accompanying each description with a series of drawings of the whole place and of its parts. A key is provided by which the read is able to identify most of the wild flowers which he is likely to meet on his country rambles. Though it has been impossible to mention all the varities and forms of all the species which may be encountered, colour variations have generally been noted, and room has been found for a few facts relating to the biology of the flower, particularly as regards pollination methods. Notes are also provided about the uses to which many of the flowers have been put in folk medicine and other fields. Some introductory comments on flower structure enable the most unbotanical reader to use effectively the key for naming common fl;owering plants. With 216 Illustrations. 255 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions, Reference books ,and all types of Academic Literature.). Reprint. Soft Cover. Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" Tall Duodecimo. Paperback.
