Isaak Walton (1593-1683) was an English biographer but most of all he was a fisherman. This book was first published in 1653 and is among the most printed book in the English language. It is hard to describe; part fishing manual, part meditation on fishing and life, and also a list of the top-40 tunes of the 1600's. This is the first printing of the Goodspeed edition from 1928. Gray paper boards with green illustrations; bound at spine with brown cloth and gold lettering. Introduced by Bliss Perry with interior decorations by W. A. Dwiggins. Binding bright and clean with no bumping or soiling; no fading to spine. Many of the pages are uncut so the book must no have been read. Published with a slip case rather than a dust jacket. Slip case is tan cardboard with no tears or problems. A very attractive volume. 324 pages.
