Vintage, mid-20th-century guide for home seamstresses, including easy directions for beginners up to advanced instruction for experts for creating garments & home decor on a home sewing machine. Also covered quilting, embroidery, & smocking, in 319 pages, illustrated throughout with line diagrams & drawings, as well as real-life photos--with 750+ explanatory pictures. author was the editor of both Butterick & Simplicity patterns, as well as a consultant to the National Retail Dry Goods Association. Orig. published in 1943, this is the Revised Edition from 1949. Hardcover small 4to (6.5" x 10") has burgundy cloth-covered boards with design stamped to front & black/gilt titling to spine. Condition is VG+: exceptionally clean & bright, binding straight & strong, pages creamy white with mild tanning to edges. Slight rubbing to extremities & mild fraying at both ends of spine/corners, subbed spot to front board are only flaws. The unclipped DJ is Good, with heavier rubbing to extremities, small chips & holes, light creasing, but no fading. NIcely protected in new mylar cover Free!
