London, George Routledge, 1887;. Large Paper Edition. Hardback. Limited edition . This copy is hand-numbered, no.11 of 800 copies, next to the printed signature of Edmund Evans, the engraver and printer. Folio size. 30.5cm x 39.3cm. The contents are complete in 500 pp with half title, title in red & black, coloured frontis., Coloured plates and numerous other illustrations throughout . All the illustrations are bright and clear. Preface by Austin Dobson. Bound in publishers original tan coloured cloth, spine defective but contents in nice condition. The binding is worn and rubbed, boards dust soiled and bumped to corners, held fairly tenuously by the mull. Backstrip chipped and torn with substantial loss , some slight loss to cloth on inner edge of lower board. Contents holding firm with first couple of gatherings standing a bit proud. Pages generally in very good condition with some light scattered foxing and a few light handling marks. Old bookplate to front paste down. Long closed tear to illustration at page 61. Foredge & bottom edge untrimmed. Top edge gilt.
