New York: D. Appleton, 1857 329pp. Illustrated with Fine Steel Engravings. Tips and spine ends are bumped and heavily rubbed. Spine heel is heavily chipped. Spine edges have a couple of rubbed through areas. Bottom edge is heavily shelf worn. Foredge of front board is worn. Inside front board and front endpaper are heavily soiled. First several pages have light foxing. Frontispiece has bled through to the backside. Many page edges have foxing not affecting the illustrations. Inside rear board and rear endpaper are heavily soiled. Hinges are weak. Spine is shaken. Threaded Binding has one opening. Spine has darkened. Embossed design has some rubbing. Second to last page and the endpaper have damp staining near the edge. Text is clean and unmarked. . Later Printing. Hardcover. Fair/No Dust Jacket.
