Hollywood screenwriter Sam Hoffenstein produced three collections of poetry, all of which are presented in this Modern Library edition. His verse tended toward the humorous, and often he seemed to seek the worst possible outcome of a given situation, as in his "Poems Intended to Incite the Utmost Depression." Volume wrapped in dust jacket with color drawing of a city skyline by Paul Galdone. --- In Toledano spine 8 / rust cloth / gilt titling on black spine & cover blocks / black topstain / grey Kent endpapers / jacket style i / verso advertises 370 titles in ML catalog. ML #225.2. --- An excellent copy: clean, and tightly-bound but with mild dulling to cover & spine gilding. Price-clipped dust jacket with chipping & small tears along top edge, but remaining bright and intact; protected in removable mylar wrapper.
