New York: Henry Holt / Putnam / Marian Wood, 2017. First Edition. Hardcover. Near fine +/Near fine +. First six volumes small octavo; next 19 volumes all large octavo. Each book is SIGNED by Grafton in her usual black Sharpie, although "B is for Burglar" has a wonderfully long, contemporary inscription in blue ink, typical of her early inscriptions. All volumes about fine; a few have very minor spotting or staining to the bottom edges, and there is a small closed tear at the base of the spine on "F is for Fugitive." The spine of "Q is for Quarry" is a little pushed. Otherwise, it's a fresh, bright, crisp set; overall very near fine in very near fine dust jackets. A few other things to note: "U is for Undertow" is one of a number of copies of that title which emerged from Grafton's own estate, and bears her bookplate on the front paste-down. Of particular interest is "Y is for Yesterday," which is signed on a special bookplate which she had signed in the short period after the book was published, but berfore her death in December of 2017. A photocopy of some correspondence on Grafton's letterhead (mentioning these bookplates) is laid-in as evidence. (Since "Y is for Yesterday" was published just a few months before Grafton's death, and se did not do any public events at that time, signed copies offered in commerce without clear provenance should be approached with extreme caution.) A fantastic complete set of this immortal series of detective novels.
