1796 1ed Medieval Dress & Habits of England Costumes Illustrated Knights Strutt

Joseph Strutt was an 18th-century English antiquarian who is best known for his studies on the history of English customs and clothing. His most valuable and undoubtedly best work was 'Dress and Habits of the English People'. This book is profusely illustrated with 150+ sketches of English costumes from the earliest times through the 17th-century. Strutt includes engravings of clothes of knights, clergy, royals, peasants, and slaves as well as headdresses, tombs, and ancient artifacts. A fascinating illustrated adventure!

Dionysius Periegetes was an ancient Greek geographer believed to have lived sometime in the 2nd or 3rd-centuries. He is remembered primarily for his description of the known world, believed to be one of the earliest written world geographies. In the 12th-century, Byzantine historian Eustathius of Thessalonica wrote a commentary on Dionysius's 'Orbis Descriptio' who included numerous excerpts from other ancient Greek geographers and historians.
This 1688 Greek and Latin edition was collected and edited by William Hill who included numerous folding maps. Two of the maps are particularly desirable – the map of all of Europe and the map of Italy and the Greek Islands.

Jules Verne's adventure novels are some of the most popular and famous works of literature of all time. Known mostly for his works of science fiction, 'Voyages Extraordinaires' was Verne's largest collection of fantasy novels and stories. "Tribulations of a Chinaman in China", first published in 1879, discusses, in a satirical view, the British trading opium in China and is filled with illustrations depicting adventures, shipwrecks, and sea battles.

Rare original poetry book with cloth covered boards, copyright 1880 by J. W. Shoemaker & Co. This edition published in 1906 by the Penn Publishing company, Philadelphia. From the estate of my great-great grandfather.Includes many unique poems and recitations such as "To a skull", "Uncle Daniel's Introduction to a Mississippi Steamer", "The Leak in the Dyke", etc. More well-known poetry includes "Song of Birds", "Old Ironsides", and "Bannock Burn" by Robbie Burns. Light rubbing and bumps to outside spine edges. Back cover and interior cloth covered board has a stain at top. Original owner's name and address from 1908, but no other writing or marks. First 2 pages have a stain at top, but text of 192 pages of poetry and recitations is totally clean with light tanning of pages.
