Twenty-two volumes; one of 500 numbered sets signed by daughter Rose Hawthorne Lathrop (a convert to Roman Catholicism, later known as Mother Alphonsa); publisher’s beige buckram with printed paper spine labels; some minor cloth soiling and discoloration; a very good, clean set. Each frontispiece is signed by its illustrator, including, among others, Jessie Willcox Smith, Eric Pape, F.T. Merrill, Howard Pyle, Arthur I. Keller, F.C. Yohn and Childe Hassam.
