Washington: John C. Rives, 1858. First Edition. Hardcover. Fair. Folio - over 12 - 15" tall. A perfectly serviceable reference copy; nothing fancy, but complete. Faint white lettering of call number at spine and punched stamp are only signs of ex-library status (Hill Reference Library, Saint Paul). Marbled paper over boards, brown leather-backed, leather to tips, and with gilt lettering to spine, original boards present, attached, but loose, held still by string, and leather scuffed at ends. Scuffing to extremities, some waffling to text-block but with no signs of mildew or odor. Some soiling to and foxing of especially endpapers, else remarkably clean and unmarked. An indispensable item for U.S. historians and particularly for the study of primary documents. lxiv + 2049-3061 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
