About This Item
55 BILLION PAGES EXIST ON THE INTERNET, AND YOU'RE HERE... MAYBE ITS NOT BY CHANCE...
A VERY RARE & GENUINE 1ST EDITION 1ST PRINTING HARDCOVER "NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE SOFTCOVER VERSION."
BOOK OF ANGELS, CONJURING, NECROMANCY, DIVINATION, INVOCATIONS, MEDIEVAL MAGIC, THE BOOK OF VISIONS, INVISIBLE WRITING, THE SWORN BOOK OF HONORIUS, CEREMONIAL MAGIC, RITUAL, THE MAGICAL ARTS, OCCULTISM, & MUCH MORE
This incredible book of magic dates back to the 14th century and includes a treasure trove of the magical arts. Within its pages, you will find chapters on the conjuring of spirits, grimoire, necromancy, the books of angels, and ceremonial magic that has been used for centuries. This collection is a compendium of some of the oldest and most coveted forms of magic ever used. This is a genuine 1st edition and not a later remake or softcover. For anyone who studies the magical arts, this edition is a must-have. I would snag this book before someone else does.
Conjuring Spirits contains both general surveys and analyses of magical texts and manuscripts by distinguished scholars in a variety of disciplines.
Claire Fanger is an Assistant Professor of Religion at Rice University. She is the editor of Invoking Angels: Theurgic Ideas and Practices, Thirteenth to Sixteenth Centuries (Penn State, 2012) and Conjuring Spirits: Texts and Traditions of Medieval Ritual Magic
The overall condition of this book is very good. It does have some minimal wear, such as slight age toning, a touch of reading use, etc. I would say for a book that is now almost 25 years old, it has been well-kept.
Contains general surveys and specific analyses of magical texts and manuscripts by scholars in a variety of disciplines. Topics covered include the Sworn Book of Honorius, images in Ars Notoria manuscripts, the Secretum Philosophorum, the Liber Visionum, and Lullian divination. The work also contains Juris Lidaka's edition of the Liber de Angelis and an overview of late medieval magical texts, both angelic and dark. It offers insights into the place of magic in the medieval age.
Included are chapters by Richard Kieckhefer and Robert Mathiesen on the Sworn Book of Honorius, Michael Camille on the Ars Notoria, John B. Friedman on the Secretum Philosophorum, Nicholas Watson on the McMaster text, and Elizabeth Wade on Lullian divination. The work includes Juris Lidaka's edition of the Liber de Angelis and an overview of late medieval English ritual manuscripts by Frank Klaassen. This book will be invaluable for scholars and other readers interested in ritual magic in the later Middle Ages.
