About This Item
London: Faber and Faber, 1958 First edition. 145,(1) pp. Octavo. Original blue cloth with gilt title on spine. Minor rubbing to extremities and head of spine. Blue pictorial dustjacket. Minor edge wear. with creasing along top edge. Frontis portrait. 7 illustrations. A very good to fine copy. A telling of the successful first ascent of Mount Everest. It focuses on the author's role as a journalist covering the event, and his successful attempt to be the first to break the news. Getting scarce especially in a fine copy. Jan passed away a year ago at the ripe age of 94! I had a couple of publishing projects I did with her and she was a delight to work with, a generous sole and had a great library! 1958
