Frontispiece, with tissue guard, half-title printed on recto; tailpieces, including Arabic quotations. Advertising leaf at front for Aldrich's 'A Collection of Poems." Publisher's plum blind-ruled and -monogrammed cloth. Provenance: C.B. Tillinghast (bookplate, his book number 1175). FIRST EDITION, first state, with p. [14] containing an Arabic quotation with no English translation, and no terminal advertisements. Aldrich references Poe's "The Thousand-And-Second Tale of Scheherazade" in his Preface: "To this same Arabic Wonder-Book [Tellmenow Isitsoornot] is Mr. Poe greatly indebted for his Thousand and Second Tale." BAL 251.
