About This Item

New York: Dodd Mead & Company, 1969. 8vo size red clothbound hardcover with dust jacket; 174 pages with some full page black & white illustrations. From jacket: "Few writers have Jim Kjelgaard's skill for blending humans and wild animals in a genuine nature story with a thrilling plot. This absorbing tale involves Joe, a young (Native American) who lives alone in his adobe hut on the edge of the Southwest desert, clinging to the ways of his ancestors (plus Hairy, Billy, Miguel and) Dusty, the coyote, whose 'song' means good luck to Joe; his mate Nan and their engaging, cocky cub, plus the other animals that dwell in the seemingly empty desert." Ex-library with typical treatments, jacket is covered with mylar. Book has water damage with a very wrinkled half title page and textural changes, but no watermarks, notably to the top corner of pages up to page 61. One of the library's stamps is in green ink which has bled onto abutting pages. We noted five creased top corners of pages. Edgewear. . Cloth. Good/Good. Illus. by Mac Lean, Robert. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Ex-Library.
