Schwarz, Paris. 1er Mars,, 1902. First edition. Quarto. Cover and 22 full-page colour lithographs by Félix Vallotton, printed on rectos only, this being the only issue of the periodical to be lithographically printed. Wrappers. One of Vallotton's most celebrated works, the theme being authoritarian brutality from the classroom to the police station. Swiss-born Vallotton (1865 - 1925) was a member of the Post-Impressionist group Les Nabis which was particularly noted for its graphic work. Covers chipped and soiled at the edges. Spine splitting. Marginal chips and tears (not affecting the images). Very good copy of a scarce and very fragile item.
