This book, both a food memoir as well as a homage to the pleasures of life - refers to fellow gastronomic voyagers who came of age after the Franco-Prussian War and enjoyed forty years of peace. Some of these men who are cited are Dr. Noël Ballay, a French doctor, poet and explorer - Dr. Robert Wurtz, an Alsatian doctor and world traveler - and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Maurice Joyant was a lifelong friend of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, whom he met in 1872 and later organized the first retrospective of Lautrec's work in 1893. Original outer wraps professionally restored, hinges repaired. Interior clean and crisp.
