About This Item
Norway 1980. J.C. Dahl (1788-1857) spent many years from the 1820s living in Dresden, and that experience is the focus of this National Gallery, Oslo, exhibit from 1980. Dresden was one of the capitals of the Romantic movement, with an architecture virtually unchanged since the 18th century, and this is strongly reflected in Dahls German influence. He was a great admirer of Caspar David Friedrich, and represents also the strong cultural ties between Germany and Norway in this period. A good, focused study. , Norwegian, Year1980, Illust.
