About This Item

Tokyo, Japan: Daido Moriyama Studios, 2004. First Edition. First Printing.. Hardcover. As New/No Dust Jacket, As Issued.. Tokyo, Japan: Daido Moriyama Studios, 2004. Hardcover. As New/None, As Issued. First Edition/First Printing. 1 pages. Rare Daido Moriyama contemporary print. Framed Original Chromogenic ("Dye-Coupler") Print of "Carousel", signed by Daido Moriyama. The print measures 8 X 10 inches. Full frame size is 17 X 14 inches. Professionally (and beautifully) framed on solid black wood and Plexiglas by Craig Cotsones/Stephen Daiter Gallery Chicago. Processed on FujiColor paper. Eminently suitable for display. Without DJ, as issued. Presents, in a collectible framed format, Daido Moriyama's "Carousel". One of the photographer's single most beautiful images, it perfectly captures Moriyama's aesthetic: To make us keenly aware of the photograph as the product of a mechanical instrument (the camera) and of the person behind the camera (the photographer) as the witness to the constant flow and throbbing intensity of the world. "Taking a photograph does not mean to cut off a piece of time and place and save it as a record, but to remove color, palpability, smell, and sound from a time and place, and transpose the remnants into a distribution of varying densities of equivalent light and shadow. To take a photograph is to fragment the comprehensive sensory data" (Daido Moriyama) . Flow, intensity, and fragments that build up to a cumulative and ecstatic visual experience: This is Moriyama's highly influential conception of photography. An absolute "must-have" original print for Daido Moriyama collectors. This framed original chromogenic ("dye-coupler") print of "Carousel" is very prominently, neatly, and beautifully signed in black pen-marker on recto by Daido Moriyama. As far as we know, this is the only such signed print available online, is professionally (and beautifully) framed on solid black wood and Plexiglas, and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. Please note: Moriyama prints command thousands of dollars from his galleries, at art fairs, and at auction. This is surely an accessible and lovely alternative. A rare signed print thus. 1 original photographic print. The greatest Japanese photographer of our time. A fine collectible print. (SEE ALSO OTHER DAIDO MORIYAMA TITLES IN OUR CATALOG).
