Front page headlines include war news of England being bombarded by German warships, the American steamship Green Brier being mined and sunk in the North Sea, Jack London's "Sea Wolf" and London's reaction to the movie version, good results noted in mines of the Comstock Lode, lowering the water levels in the Comstock, and other reports on individual mines in the region.
