Ills. & different frontis portraits of Dalhousie "George Ramsay, Ninth Earl of Dalhousie, came to Canada as Lieutenant-Governor of Nova Scotia in 1816. Four years later he became Governor General of Canada. The journals he kept during his four years in Halifax provide us with a unique record of the life of that time: " Dust cover to volume I. Volume 1 deals with his time in Halifax, vol.2 deals with the first four of his eight years in Quebec & Vol.3 his time at the Colonial office in London his return to Canada in 1825
