Three Autograph Letters Signed ("R.H. Dana Jr" and "R.H.D. Jr"), 18 pp. recto and verso, (conjoined leaves). Octavo. Boston and Manchester, 1872-1874, to his daughter, Elizabeth Ellery Dana. Lengthy and affectionate letters full of family gossip, advice, and details of his travel. Written in brown ink on Dana's personal stationary. Fine.
Elizabeth Ellery Dana (1846-1939), the eldest of seven children, had two brothers, William and Edmund Trowbridge, and three sisters, Lucy (wife of William Channing), Ann, and Almy (later married to William Stedman). She also had several quite young half-brothers and sisters.
