New York: Metropolitan Museum of Art and Rizzoli, New York, 1986. First edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/very good. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall; Red Cloth boards; 128 p. 156 illustrations (55 in color). This book was published on the occasion of an exhibition held at the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, from December 17, 1986 through September 6, 1987. Surveys the history of dance, examines the development of ball gowns and other dancing costumes, and discusses the depiction of dance in art. Book is near fine with litght edge wear and the jacket is very good with bumped and rubbed edges and corners and spine ends. There are tiny chips at the spine ends and one corner. The surface shows smudges and light scuffing. The picture is a scan of the actual book.
