New York, New York: George Braziller, 1962. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. Low, Joseph. Long before he gained fame as the author of "The Joy of Sex" in 1972, the author was a noted physician & sociobiologist. In this collection of 7 essays, he explores the conflict between humanity's "soft center" & "hard center,'' or between the poet & the scientist. a wide range of writers & thinkers who have explored this dichotomy & found a balance between the two poles is examined. In 174 pages with Index & notes. A FIRST EDITION, first printing from 1961, this hardcover book black matte cloth-covered boards with embossed designs to front/gilt lettering to spine. Condition is Fine: just a tad less crisp than Brand New! Completely clean, binding tight & square, hinges secure. Pages moderately tanned, commensurate with age, but unmarked. Mild rubbing to extremities, slight bumping to all corners & both ends of spine. The unclipped DJ is downgraded to Near Fine due to a few rubbed spots along spine & light soil/shelfwear Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have!
