About This Item

London: Chapman & Hall 1st first edition in book form, 1859. Hardcover. Good. Frontispiece + engraved TP + 42 plates (total 44) by Phiz.. Octavo plum gilt roan (one hinge cracked/ head&foot of spine chipped & worn/spine faded/tips worn) vii+[i] +595pp. Inscription on FEP and 1" tear to one plate, with old repair, and faint corner damp marking to a few others never near to printed area. *Unlike Dickens' novels, also Phiz illustated and published by this publisher, this work seems to have been printed on less acid paper as it is not so prone to foxing. Here minor signs of use but minimal foxing/browning.
