Illustrated tan cloth. xii, 274, viii pp. Photos. Laurence was a science correspondent with the New York Times and was tapped by U. S. Army Major General Leslie Groves, Director of the Manhattan Project, to be its official historian. Laurence was present at the Trinity test at Alamogordo, New Mexico on July 16, 1945 and has dramatic photos of the bomb as it explodes. Other photos in the book show the after-effects of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Laurence received a Pulitzer Prize for his A-bomb reporting but his journalistic integrity has come into question in recent years. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
