Cover has some wear and soiling. Slightly cocked. Szasz joined the UNM Department of History in 1968 and earned a Ph.D. in history from the University of Rochester the following year. Szasz's scholarship included American intellectual history, early atomic age, and social and intellectual history. In 1985 Szasz received an "Outstanding Teacher of the Year" award. A prolific and accomplished writer, Szasz's most popular title was "The Day the Sun Rose Twice: the story of the Trinity Site nuclear explosion." This is the story of the world's first nuclear explosion. It occurred at 5:30 A.M. on July 16, 1945, about 120 miles from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Its legacy is much in evidence today.
