About This Item

Hollywood, CA: Paramount Pictures, 1977. Vintage Treatment script for an unproduced film. The story in the early treatment script found here is divided into three parts and 21 acts beginning on page 41. The preceding 40 pages are broken into three main sections, "The Story and How It is Told," "Danger," and "The Characters," to which screenwriter Robert Bloch devotes 36 pages and divides into three sections, "The Principals," "The Supporting Roles," and "The Comet."

Famed author Bloch's substantial early treatment of H.G. Wells' 1906 novel, "In the Days of the Comet," which was created for legendary animator, director, and producer George Pal, noted as "A George Pal Production" on the front wrapper, for CBS television, which Bloch envisioned as a 1980 CBS mini-series. Unfortunately, Pal suffered a sudden heart attack on May 2, 1980, and the project remains one of Bloch's several unproduced screenplays.

A story of a mismatched working class love affair during a time of potentially catastrophic war, when a comet collides into the earth and releases a mysterious green vapor which brings about the Great Change, causing humanity to become "exalted," and bringing "peace on earth and good will to men."

Blue titled wrappers, dated May 18, 1977. Title page present, dated May 18, 1977, with credits for screenwriter Robert Bloch and author H.G. Wells. 126 leaves, with last page of text numbered 125. Mimeograph duplication, rectos only. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Very Good plus, bound with two gold brads.
