New York: Duell, Sloan and Pearce, 1943. First Edition, First Printing. Cloth. Very good/good. First edition of Dead Reckoning by Francis Bonnamy, published in 1943.. Octavo, 248pp, Beige cloth, title in green on spine. Stated "first edition" on copyright page. An ex-library copy, with card pocket removed from rear free endpaper. Rubbing to cloth, soiling from handling, tape remnants to endpapers. Business card with "Sherlock Holmes" illustration attached to front pastedown endpaper. In the publisher's first state dust jacket, $2.00 on front flap, tape repairs to verso, tape mark to spine, obvious shelf wear. A scarce wartime printing. Francis Bonnamy was the pseudonym of American author Audrey Boyers Walz (1906-1983). Her primary character was detective Peter Utley Shane, who appeared in eight novels from 1931-1951.
