About This Item
[Philadelphia]: Privately Printed, 1928. Limited . Boards. Good/Very Good. 12mo. 139 pp. Kenn Stuart, illus. Limitation not specified. Inscribed and signed in 1932 to book collector Richard Gimbel. A typed presentation letter from the author is mounted on front pastedown, with addressed envelope laid in; in it he apologizes for the less-than-perfect condition of this copy, and invites Gimbel to visit him to discuss Poe, whose work featured prominently in Gimbel's collection. A second empty envelope of unknown relevance is laid in. With Gimbel's tiny (post-)ownership label ("Once Richard Gimbel's") on front pastedown. Some wear including tears to paper backstrip at head, rear edge, and heel; backstrip is also creased, and partially loosened from binding; binding itself is mostly holding but cracked in a couple of places and tender; there are a few notes in pencil on rear pastedown. Jacket lightly handled, dusty, edgeworn.
