Cather's classic novel about a Catholic priest's attempts to build a diocese in the territory of New Mexico. In 303 pages, this is a true First Edition, first issue (with both requisite spelling errors present). Hardcover book (8vo) has publisher's green cloth over boards with paper pastedown title boxes to front & spine. Condition is Very Good- (minus)/Good+ (plus): very clean, binding secure with slight rightward cant, hinges strong, pages modestly tanned, with a scattering of foxed spots to endpapers. Former owner's bookplate & name inside front cover, else unmarked. Slight rubbing to extremities, with some fraying at both ends of spine & corners. Missing DJ. A very nice copy.
