About This Item
New York: Bloomsbury Publishing Ltd., 2006. First Printing, First U.S. Edition. . Hardcover. Good Plus to Very Good/Very Good. The seventh novel for this mainstream Irish author now living in the U.S.is this highly-praised crime fiction story centered around a midwestern university professor, formerly a literary prodigy, now a barely-conscious, wheelchair-bound invalid after a failed suicide attempt. An unpublished novel is found in the professor's basement, a brilliant, semi-autobiographical story featuring a gruesome child murder. Its publication brings the professor success when he can no longer enjoy it and until the story's resemblance to a real, unsolved murder is noticed. Bottom of spine and lower edge of back cover are bumped, o/w boards and text are clean and unmarked, tight and square with minimal damage or wear. Not remaindered. Dustjacket shows minor damage in area covering spine end bumping, o/w no tears, no creasing or chipping, not price-clipped. A reading copy.
