NY: Bluejay, 1983. Hardcover. Near Fine/Fine. 8vo. 297pp. First printing thus, corrected book club edition. Signed by Ellison in green felt pen opposite the title page. Red boards with black vinyl backing and red spine titles. Fine, save for moderate foxing to top of textblock, with a half dozen spots on fore-edge as well. In fine jacket that shows very light edgewear. From the publisher's statement flyleaf: "This edition has been extensively revised by the Author; every page has been carefully examined for errors. This edition culls all mistakes, restores missing material, and is as close to a Preferred Text as the Author and Publisher can offer.
Synopsis
Deathbird Stories: A Pantheon of Modern Gods is a 1975 collection of short stories written by Harlan Ellison over a period of ten years; the stories address the theme of modern-day "deities" that have replaced the older, more traditional ones. The collection, with its satirical, skeptical tone, is widely considered one of Ellison's best. The book includes a 1973 introduction and a stern caveat lector page advising the reader against enjoying the volume in one sitting.

All books ship free with tracking to domestic addresses via USPS Media Mail. In most cases, delivery takes place within a three to ten day window, although the vicissitudes of USPS may apply. Unless otherwise requested, expedited domestic purchases ship via USPS Priority Mail; overseas orders via USPS First Class International. Heavy or oversized books may incur additional shipping charges, as may books shipped to overseas destinations. Any additional charges required will be communicated promptly.
We take safe shipping very seriously; all of our books are packaged in new cardboard boxes amply cushioned with biodegradable packing peanuts. Pamphlets and other flat materials items are ocassionally shipped in bubble-mailers with internal cardboard supports.
