First edition of the proceedings of Maine's constitutional convention. Contains the text of the constitution itself, as well as the debates, resolutions, etc. "In presenting to the public an account of the proceedings of the Convention, which framed the Constitution for the New State, regard has been had, not only to the gratification of a liberal curiosity, but to the preservation of an authentic record for future times."-"Advertisement" on p. iii. REFERENCES: Williamson 7411; Shaw and Shoemaker 48564. CONDITION: A fair, but unsophisticated copy in original boards; vertical splits in spine with some loss of paper, covers nearly detached, light stains and manuscript numbers in ink on upper cover, lower cover with half-dollar size brown stain and other smaller stains.
