About This Item
George Ronald, 1949. Very good/Good. 8vo. 200 x 140mm, 62 pages. Maps. Book condition: Very good, clean brown boards, firm binding, no inscriptions Jacket condition: Good, mainly clean, bright, tanning to spine and upper front, not creased, not price-clipped, faint signs of stamp to front cover, will be protected in removable clear sleeving upon sale. Comments:A military lesson in small-unit tactics, based on Lieut. Backsight Forethought's?? dreams whilst defending a river crossing at Duffer's Drift during the Boer Wars. It appears at first sight to be a humorous take-off of the military, with terms such as 'Regret Table Mountain', 'Waschout Hill', 'Silliassvogel River' but is apparently a classic study of the effective deployment of small units of soldiers. . Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
