About This Item

8.25 x 6" green string-bound album. In yellow on the front cover reads: "To-Bobby, From-Charles & Tess" with flowery star symbols painted on. The first page of the album features a delightful little illustration of the moon or sun against a river in the forest, and it says that this album of "Honeymoon Snaps" is dedicated to Marie J. E. West by Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Anderson Jr., who compiled this chronicle of their honeymoon. The first photo in the album is hand-colored and features Tess in her wedding gown. The album features 27 black and white photos accompanied by detailed summaries of the day-to-day of Charles and Tess's 1928 honeymoon, which took them from Buffalo, New York, to Camp Perry, to Ontario, Canada, and to Syracuse, New York. The photos show Charles and Tess enjoying their time at Camp Perry, in front of landmarks or exciting landscapes, and in hotels. There are some lovely photos of Niagara Falls and interesting photos of the Goodyear Dirigible and aeroplane maneuvers at Camp Perry. Photographs measure between 2.25 x 4" and 4.5 x 2.75" and are held to the pages with corner tabs. The album is only partially filled.

Example entries:
Foreword
There's been an often-pressed request from you to send you all our best in "snaps" and so we thot, perhaps,- It would be heaps and heaps of fun if we should write with every one just what we both had seen and done; and we, with this one inspiration composed this whole conglamaration.
It's authorship we both confess and sign our names here:
Charles & Tess

"Campy Perry" Part One - Camp Life
The first night in camp - we were visited by a rain storm and it was by no means a sprinkle. I [illegible] the ropes before going to bed; but there were a few stakes loosened by the force of the wind. Tess had taken unto herself a wooden mall and re-drove the stakes. I was surprised the way she drove home those stakes!

Returning from the range, almost 11:30 A.M., I happened to "catch" Tess at her task, much to my surprise - I snapped her picture. The sight of the B.V.D.'s made me laugh. She used some sort of bobbed hair pins to hold clothes on the line. (No! I did not have to stay in bed while she washed my underwear!)

At the extreme end of this [illegible] where Tess and I shot the rifle. I usually expectorate on each bullet so as to clear the fouling after the previous shot. I told Tess that I would help her and expectorate on the bullet. I thought it might frighten her to stick the front part in her mouth and such - no! She wanted to be a regular shooter and do as I did (and as many others do.)

Finale
Now we bid you adieu,-
We have had fun, so will you,*
Glancing at, and reminiscing
Of the good times we weren't missing.

We trust to see you in twenty-nine
And together, have a good time.

For the pages that remain
We shall send snaps time and again."
"Me" and "Tee"
Charles & Tess
*At least, we hope you will!
