New York: Atheneum, 1964. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Earl Thollander. Signed by Author(s). First edition stated; signed and inscribed by Beard on blank prelim, 4to (9 3/4 x 5 1/2) inches, blind embossed green paper over boards backed in blue cloth, black and white drawings by Earl Thollander throughout. Gift inscription, "To my beloved daughter, Margaret. Mother," inked above author inscription and accompanying birthday card dated 1964 taped to the page, tiny penciled "x"s next to most books listed on verso, dust jacket has some mild soiling to inverse which is visible as very faint water marks on front, else mild edge wear and spine a bit toned. From the private collection of Margaret (Lindsey) Love, who was the daughter of Fern Trumbull Hubbard, prominent home economist for Edison General Electric in the 1930s. She developed and conducted cooking classes around the country to teach women how to use the new electric ranges and appliances that were quickly replacing the old wood cooking stoves in American homes.
