About This Item
NEW YORK: Doubleday Page & Co., 1904. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Cloth. Fine/No Jacket. First Edition/First Printing 1904. A superb first print copy in fine condition. Other than the original owner's name written in pencil on the front free endpaper and one lightly bumped corner--there are no other flaws. From a recent Bonham's and Butterfield's auction of early 19th Century fiction--this copy is just about "as new" even though it is over 100 years old. Square, tight, and clean throughout. Absolutely no spots or discoloration to red cloth boards--full gilt lettering to front board and spine. Original tissue guard covering title page and opposite color illustration. Page blocks and edges unmarked and clean. A collectible copy in remarkable condition. From a Pulitzer Prize winning novelist.
