About This Item

MOFFAT ROAD PRELIMINARY SURVEY A. J. WESTON & FRANK McOUAT
Significant photograph album of one of the survey teams working on the construction of David H. Moffat's DENVER, NORTHWESTERN & PACIFIC RAILWAY, known as "The Moffat Road."
These surveys took place in 1903 - 1904. This part of the survey was lead by A. J. Weston and the head of the geological survey party was Frank McOuat. The photographer, unfortunately, is not identified.
The DENVER, NORTHWESTERN & PACIFIC RAILROAD was the last major railway project Moffat financed. Moffat died in 1911, before the railroad was completed.
Photo album dimensions: 10-1/2 inches by 7-1/2 inches
Average photograph size: 7 inches by 5 inches
24 gray-paper leaves
50 photographs, most albumen; several gelatin silver and one cyanotype.
Near fine condition. Many excellent photographic images. Several Minnesota, Wyoming, Nebraska and Utah photographs. Unclear why these were included in this album.
