New York: United States Book Company successors to John W. Lovell Company, 1890. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. Very Good Plus. Maroon cloth over beveled edge boards, title and decorations stamped in gilt onto upper board and spine, top edge gilt, 12mo (7-3/8 inches tall), pp. vi, 270. Volume with minor wear to spine ends and corners and a couple of small cracks to hinges, spine gilt dulled. First printing of the first edition with "LOVELL" stamped in gilt at foot of spine. ". ..There are thousands that do write; there are dozens that can write; but there is only one Rudyard Kipling." Rudyard Kipling - An Attempt at Appreciation, Monkshood, G. F. (pseud. W. J. Clarke), 1899. Printed on laid paper, this volume collects some of Kipling's best and most loved verses. Ref. Richards, A48.
