About This Item

The 12 signatures are Hassett (Captain), Benaud (12th man), Harvey, Hole, Ian Johnson, Bill Johnston, Langley, Lindwall, McDonald, Miller, Morris and Ring. A heavyweight team by any account, with eight former Invincibles and five future Australian Captains.

On the verso are the pencil signatures of the Victorian team for the match against Queensland in Brisbane, 16-20 January 1953 (SSM 444). The 12 signatures are Hassett (Captain), Chambers, Fitchett (12th man), Harvey, Hill, Ian Johnson, Bill Johnston, Loxton, Colin McDonald, Ian McDonald, Ring and Thoms. Six of the team played with the Invincibles; in fact, only Chambers, Fitchett and Ian McDonald were not capped for Australia (although Thoms and Hill played in only one and three Tests respectively). Victoria won by seven wickets, with Johnston collecting ten wickets.
