Softcover book with stapled binding and beige cardstock covers has black cover lettering and blue paper spine covering. Book provided by Y.M.C.A. organization during WWII to aid British Prisoners of War held in German prison camps; book teaches German language via relevant prison camp examples. Red ink stamp on front cover and title page reads "Stalag IVC 2 F. U. gepruft" Stalag IV C was located in Wistritz, between Dresden and Prague. The stamp means it was approved for use there. Covers are lightly soiled. Corners are curled and worn. Spine covering chipped at ends and torn for 2 inches at top rear edge. Front cover and about half the pages have a vertical crease; crease becomes less pronounced after first 20 pages. Back cover, which has several diagonal creases, has Y.M.C.A. logo at center. Book has black & white illustrations by J. E. Wood. Pages are tanned at margins but still supple. Name in red pencil and black ink at top corner of title page. Otherwise, pages are clean and unmarked. 126 pages.
