A two volume boxed set of the most comprehensive reference of French writers. Over 1100 entries detailing the genre and biography of French authors, along with Prize recipients and an index. 2001 Abridged edition (revised and updated) of the 1984 and 1994 editions of the Dictionnaire des littératures de langue française, new contemporary authors include, Darrieusseq, Houellebecq, Pennac and Carrere.

___DESCRIPTION: Two volumes (complete), bound with illustrated paper over soft cardboard, illustrated in red, black, and tan lettering across front, rear and spine, text in two columns, please note that all text is in French; quarto size (9 3/4" x 6 7/8"), pagination: Vol. 1 [i-viii] [1] 2-1056, Vol. 2 [i-vi] [1057] 1058-2253. In publisher's slipcase, decorated in similar manner as the books.

___CONDITION: Overall fine, volumes are near fine, with clean covers, strong, square text blocks with solid hinges, the interiors are clean and bright, and the set is entirely free of prior owner markings; minimal bumping to lower front corners of second volume, else fine. Slipcase is fine, clean, without wear, or sunning, and with no tears to the seams.
