About This Item
Berlin: Buchergilde Gutenberg, (1929). First edition. Treverton's first issue with "DISTURP" in English line p.61 and initial "S" p.109 inverted. Frankly, the only reason we can tell the "S" is inverted is we have two copies -- the first issue and the second (with "DISTURB" and "S" the right way up). Treverton [496] notes the first issue is "somewhat paler and the paper is thinner than the second issue." The paper is thinner but the binding colors are completely different. The first state is light tan cloth with green top-edge stain and a fairly flat spine; the second state is a pale reddish brown (or perhaps pale rose) cloth with dark green top-edge stain and noticeably rounded spine. Both are stamped in black on fronts and spines. Both volumes near fine with only minor cover wear lacking the scarce dust jackets. Price is for both copies.
