About This Item
London: Aurum Press Limited. Very Good+ in Very Good+ dust jacket. 2005. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. 1845131169 . Base of spine bumped, light wear else ; A VG+ volume in a VG+ DJ, dustjacket in Mylar, unclipped. B&W photographs ; 9.3 X 6.3 X 1.3 inches; 292 pages; "In 1942, a full two years before D-Day, thousands of men, mostly Canadian troops eager for their first taste of battle, were sent across the Channel to raid the French port town of Dieppe. The lack of air supremacy, and the surrounding tall cliffs and steep beaches, meant any landing was impossibly difficult; the result was carnage, with whole battalions decimated even as they came ashore. Drawing on survivors' accounts, Robin Neillands evokes one of WWII's most controversial hours, and investigates why the Raid was ostensibly mounted, and who - if anyone - can be held accountable." This battle has always been of interest to me. My father was a Sgt in the Signal Corps attached to the RHLI and was involved in the taking of the Casino. He was one of the lucky few who made it back onto the boats. .

About Ainsworth Books
Ainsworth Books was for many years a bricks and mortar store in Vancouver, BC. When we acquired the store, we moved to a location in Delta. After three years we moved the stock home and started operation as an online, by appointment only operation. I have worked with books my whole adult life and enjoy giving recommendations.
