Venice: Vincenzo Valgrisi, 1550. Hardcover. Fair. 4to. Contemporary limp vellum. An incomplete copy, but heavily annotated at beginning and end in several early hands. One leaf of early manuscript notes laid in. Two parts bound together in one volume. The first part missing significant portion of preliminaries, then thre remaingin first part is whole from 1-817. Second part (Sixth Book, with separate title page, missing two leaves at the end. This is the third edition of the revised and enlarged text of Mattiolis famous commentary on Dioscorides, first published in Venice in 1544.
