About This Item
Boston: E. Lincoln / John West, 1801. Very Good. Boston: Printed by E. Lincoln, for John West, No. 75, Cornhill, 1801. First Edition. Octavo; publisher's plain blue stitched wrappers; 40pp. ([A]-E4, collated complete). Shallow loss at spine ends, textblock a bit dust-soiled and slightly ragged along margins, contemporary ownership inscription at head of title page of the "Revd. Mr. Strong of Norwich," else a Very Good, sound copy overall.
New Year's sermon already nostalgically looking back to the glorious past, especially that peak year 1798 when Washington was still alive and Adams was president: "God knows what scenes are to follow! WASHINGTON is called to the world of spirits, and ADAMS will soon resign the high office which he now holds to another" (p. 17).
