About This Item
Lancaster, PA: American Physical Society, 1951. First Edition. Wraps. Very Good. Announcement of the discovery of Positronium, an atom that consists of an electron and its antiparticle, a positron, and is therefore the lightest atom. The orbit of the two particles is similar to that of the hydrogen atom (electron and proton). Because the electron and positron annihilate one another, positronium has a very short half-life (approximately 125 picoseconds). 349-262 pp. 4to. Green paper wraps with slight darkening at edges of covers from age. Clean within.
