About This Item
London: Collins, 1972-1975 . First edition. Cloth. Fine/Very Good Indeed. 8.5" by 5.5". Charles Mozley. Two fine copies of Maurice Edelman's novels based on the life of Victorian Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli. Signed by the author In the first two novels in this trilogy, Maurice Edelman reimagines the life of Benjamin Disraeli. Signed by the author, and found in their original unclipped dust wrapper. Author's inscription to the verso of the opening blurb page in Disraeli in Love, reads 'To Harriet, with love, Maurice Edelman. 1972'. Inscription to same page of Disraeli Rising reads 'To Harriet, his most beautiful Harriet, with affectionate good wishes, Maurice Edelman, 1975'. Against the turbulent background of 1830s England, Maurice Edelman reimagines the life of the British Conservative politician who served as British Prime Minister twice. Whilst the second novel concentrates on his rise through the British political establishment, the first novel explores Disraeli's courtship of Henrietta Sykes. Maurice Edelman was a Wales-born British Labour Party politician and novelist who represented constituencies in Coventry in the House of Commons for over 30 years. In the publisher's original cloth binding, found in the unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, lovely. With a small tear in the wrap of Disraeli Rising to the front board. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Fine
